The award-winning SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program (SOS) is designed to educate students on how to respond to the signs of suicide in themselves or a friend using the ACT® approach (Acknowledge, Care, Tell), and teaches them that suicide is preventable. The SOS program is the only school-based suicide prevention program listed in Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices that addresses suicide risk and depression, while reducing suicide attempts.
The SOS program is available for middle school and high schools serving children of military personnel in the U.S and overseas.
The SOS Signs of Suicide High School Program incorporates peer intervention as part of its implementation strategy. Read more
