Screening for Mental Health Appoints Norm Gorin as President and Chief Executive Officer


Screening for Mental Health Inc. (SMH), the pioneer in large-scale mental health screenings for the public, today announced the appointment of Norm Gorin as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Gorin replaces Mary Kay Leonard who has served as the organization’s Interim CEO since September 2016.

“After a comprehensive search process, the board is pleased to have found a leader with Norm’s broad skill set to lead Screening for Mental Health at this important time in the organization’s history,” said Douglas Jacobs, M.D., Board Chairman, Founder and Medical Director, Screening for Mental Health. “Norm is a strong leader with the experience and strategic the vision to lead the organization through its next phase of growth and position the organization as a leader and innovator among national mental health organizations.”

Mr. Gorin is an accomplished, hands-on leader with more than 30 years of success leading strategic, operational and cultural transformations. Among his notable appointments, Mr. Gorin co-founded and served as CEO of Instinct Health Science, Inc., an early-stage company committed to reducing workplace health costs through an effective science-based weight loss intervention. He has been actively engaged in community service through his roles as was a member of high-profile committees including Chair of the North- South Rail Link Steering Committee and Co-Chair of the Deval Patrick committee, supporting the Governor’s successful election campaigns.

Previously, Mr. Gorin held several executive and senior-level positions with Analysis Group, Inc., Avant Immunotherapeutics, Inc., Sotheby’s, Inc., and Citicorp’s FISG and Merchant Banking Groups.

He is an advisory board member of MedScience, a board member of SpiritSeries and a member of the Board of Overseers at the Museum of Science. Prior board appointments include a membership on of the Board of Directors of Analysis Group, Inc., The Alliance for Business Leaders, Fire Control Instruments, Inc., Becket-Chimney Corners Y, the Board of Advisors of Jewish Family and Children Services, and the New England Committee NAACP Legal and Educational Defense Fund.

Mr. Gorin holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University.
