Welcome to the Screening Program
Welcome to Butler Hospital’s online mental health screening. In an effort to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of psychiatric illness, we have recently enhanced our screening tool. This web-based tool allows you to take an anonymous self-assessment for five different brain-based illnesses, including depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, alcohol addiction, and posttraumatic stress disorder.
Advances in diagnosing and understanding the causes of psychiatric disorders are showing how common and widespread these illnesses are. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), an estimated 26.2 percent of Americans ages 18 and older — over 57 million people — suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. In addition, brain-based disorders are the leading cause of disability in the United States and Canada for ages 15-44. The good news is that these illnesses are very treatable. The key is to recognize the symptoms and seek help.
If the results at the end of the online screening suggest you may need some help, information will be provided on referrals and resources about how and where help is available. Additional resources on depression and other illnesses will also be available.
