American University’s Counseling Center welcomes you to your customized Online Screenings for Mental Health, including screenings for depression/suicidality, bipolar disorder, alcohol use/abuse, eating disorders, generalized anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This free screening is provided so that you may find out -- in a few minutes -- whether or not a professional consultation would be helpful to you. Please note that your screening is for your private use only. It will not be read by a mental health professional; it will not provide a diagnosis or treatment recommendation.
FOR AMERICAN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS: If you would like to discuss your screening in a confidential appointment with a counselor, call the AU Counseling Center at (202) 885-3500. If you need immediate emergency assistance, contact AU Public Safety at (202) 885-3636 or dial 911.
Please note that that this screening measure is based on Western cultural conceptions of mental health and illness. If you find that the terminology is unfamiliar to you or the screening does not fully assess your emotional wellness because of its cultural basis, we invite you to speak with a Counseling Center counselor about your wellness or distress in terms of your own cultural perspectives.
